Summary:
The employer explained that the claimant worked as a primary care paramedic and was not able to obtain a recertification. This was required to maintain his employment. His loss of certification had resulted from an incident when, while attending an injured person on a skill hill, he and his partner had not immobilized the injured person as per the protocol. The employer added that the hospitals in Ontario hold the power to certify or decertify a paramedic, and that this was beyond their jurisdiction. The appeal by the claimant was dismissed by the Umpire
