Summary:
The claimant had zero hours of insurable employment to qualify for benefits pursuant to section 7 of the EI Act. Therefore the Commission refused to pay any benefits. The appellant’s normal 52 week qualifying period was extended by a full 52 weeks because of illness during his normal qualifying period. His new qualifying period is from September 3, 2007 to September 21, 2008. During this period of time the claimant received payments from Manulife for sick benefits. The appeal by the claimant is dismissed by the Umpire.
