availability for work |

pattern study-work for brief period |

Summary:
One must be available for full-time work, not just part-time, unless he happens to lose a part-time job while in the midst of attending courses. Even then, he will be entitled to UI based on part-time work only for a reasonable period. Brief periods of part-time are not enough.

Summary:
The fact that other persons in his situation may have received UI in the past does not mean that the provisions of the Act should not be made to apply to him. As I stated in CUB 11227, disparities in enforcement processes can never justify departures from the rule of law.
