The Index of Jurisprudence

A Supplement to the Digest of Benefit Entitlement Principles

How to Use the Index

The Index is a database containing selected decisions categorized by main issue and sub issues. The main issues are headings that generally parallel the chapters of the Digest of Benefit Entitlement Principles.

There is a summary for each decision entered into the Index. Some decisions have more than one summary. Each summary relates to a main issue and/or sub-issue.

At the left hand column, there are particular search capabilities:

  • Issues Search
  • Last 200 CUBs
  • Last 100 Court Decisions
  • Case Search
  • Claimant Search

By clicking on Issues Search, a menu will appear of main issues that generally parallel the chapter titles of the Digest. Further clicking on a main issue will bring forth another screen with all the sub-issues related to the main issue. Click on Issues Search for further search details.

Clicking on Last 200 CUBs or Last 100 Court Decisions will open up a screen listing the last 200 CUBs or 100 Court decisions summarized and entered into the Index. This is a quick way to keep abreast of decisions as they are posted. Click on Last 200 CUBs for further details. Click on Last 100 Court Decisions for further details.

Case Search allows for a search by decision number, e.g. A-45-02, or CUB 62335. This is useful in finding out whether a particular decision is in the Index. Click on Case Search for further details

Clicking on Claimant Search is particularly useful when all that is known about a decision is part of its case identification, e.g. Smith versus the Commission. All decisions in the Index relating to the last name of a claimant, e.g. Smith, can be located. Click on Claimant Search for further details.
